If you’re looking to speak to other players or you’re sick of hearing them, here’s how to switch Proximity Chat off or on in Warzone 2 & DMZ.

One of the most interesting new features in Warzone 2.0 and the new extraction shooter mode DMZ is the ability to talk to your fellow players.

When Warzone 1 launched, it brought with it Death Comms, which played a snippet of a user’s microphone audio to anyone who successfully killed them. Now, Warzone 2 is upping the ante, giving players the option to turn Proximity Chat on and fully converse with those around them.

It’s a fun new feature that’s great for a laugh, allowing you to taunt your enemies, or call a truce. But if you’re not a fan, there’s a way to turn it off for good.

The feature certainly is helpful though – did you know you can now merge teams with other players in Warzone & DMZ?

To turn off Proximity Chat in Warzone 2 or DMZ:

Proximity Chat should automatically be on by default in Warzone 2 & DMZ. To double check everything is working, follow these instructions:

If Proximity Chat isn’t working in Warzone 2.0 or DMZ, here are a few fixes you might want to try:

Having proximity chat on and working makes it easier when it comes to completing all available Faction Missions in DMZ. But sometimes you just don’t want to deal with toxicity online, and that’s okay too.

Since Warzone 2 Proximity Chat is audible for all nearby players, it’s probably not going to be long until pro players take advantage of the feature.

By muting your own microphone or setting yourself to Push to Talk, you shouldn’t be able to be heard by other players. But leaving Voice Chat on will result in you still hearing their communications when they’re near.

Therefore we recommend that truly hardcore players make sure that they’re not broadcasting their position at all times. For everyone else though, Proximity Chat is a fun addition to the game!
